The Palma Mountain Film Festival is an initiative that began in 2010 and, since then, has been held without interruption. Thus, in 2017 we reached the eighth edition. It performs at various venues in Palma projection, such as the Municipal Theater Catalina Valls, the Club Diario de Mallorca and the Teatre Principal de Palma. The latest edition, which has had place between February and March 2017, had 2,525 spectators. The aim of the show is to bring the mountain nature documentary film the viewer through different visions and make known the unknown aspects of the expeditions and local communities living in the high mountains. We also want to contribute to the preservation and dissemination of the audiovisual heritage of the Balearic Islands related to mountains and nature. Finally, we intend to move the audience the need to respect the environment and contribute to its preservation. The film program is based on three pillars: international productions; films of expeditions made by Mallorca teams around the world and the films have a documentary interest and / or historic, whether or not de Mallorca. Many of the sessions of the Festival includes the stars of the films: directors, producers, climbers, etc. so that they can present their work directly and thus establish a direct contact with the public. The organization is in charge of NAT Projects (www.natprojectes.com) and, since the first edition, we have the support of the Torello Mountain Film Festival (Catalonia).
